Industrial music made such a huge impact on me when I first discovered it. Depeche Mode definitely cracked opened those doors, but it was seeing the video for Sensoria that really kickstarted it. You can hear its spreading influence in the big drums of late 80s dance tracks. And to me, industrial and 80s dance always paired together well. For those of us who didn’t have the privilege to experience the Warehouse, Music Box, The Loft or Paradise Garage, at least we had MEDUSA’S. To me, that’s what Chicago was all about. Whenever I hear certain songs, I immediately get lost in memories of the sights and smells (mostly patchouli and clove cigarettes) that filled that building. Even with fake ID in pocket, Medusa’s was our haven of choice. And it continues to be an inspiration to this day. So for shits n giggles, here’s a little present celebrating one of the best clubs in Chicago. Granted not all of these are ‘Medusa’s classics’, but you’ll get the picture… HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
