For this archive dig, we venture into the sounds that fueled the Midwest raves’ remotest barns, farms and fields back in the early 90s. This mix is all about the new at the time UK progressive house sound. I sometimes can’t help but cringe when I hear mixes from this era, but they do bring back some unforgettable memories. So here we begin our time travel back to 1993 where we can relive where we were, who we were with, and most importantly what we were wearing. Enjoy!

This is the mix that started it all–1991/92 in all its tribal/trance glory. The rave scene was just emerging in Chicago, the sound was fresh and new, and the sense of community was strong all across the Midwest. Only 200 cassettes were produced, but it somehow reached many a raver near and far. I owe much to my time on the West Coast for the music and inspiration on here. This wouldn’t exist without the help of Sasha, Barry Weaver, Mark E Quark, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina and Josh Werner for recommending/supplying many of these musical gems!
